Congregation Or Chadash

Congregation Or Chadash, a synagogue with a special outreach to gay and lesbian Jews, was founded in 1976. Its current mission is to provide a warm and affirming community where all Jews can feel welcome. A diverse congregation with members from the entire spectrum of Jewish life, they are affiliated with both the Union for Reform Judaism and the World Congress of Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgendered Jews.

Services are held every Friday at 8:00 pm; the last Friday of each month the service is conducted informally as part of a Shabbat potluck dinner. Services are led twice a month by Rabbi Edwards; other services are led by our cantorial soloist and by members of the congregation. We also offer a full schedule of holiday services and celebrations, an extensive adult education program, and a variety of social and cultural activities.
